Savio Friends

Savio Friends of Great Britain (SFGB) is an eparchial commission dedicated to children who are yet to receive their Solemn Holy Communion. All catechism children from Year 1 to Year 4 are considered Savio Friends. Established in 2017, the commission takes its name from St. Dominic Savio, the heavenly patron who demonstrated a profound love for God from a very young age.

SFGB aims to foster the spiritual growth of children and nurture their faith through wisdom, love, prayer, Christian values, and active participation in the life of the Church. Its mission is to transform the childhood of our children into a Holy Childhood and to form them as little missionaries who learn and live the Word of God and prepare themselves to receive and worthily celebrate the Sacraments.

The commission functions at eparchial, regional, and mission levels, creating opportunities for children across the Syro-Malabar communities of Great Britain to come together for prayer, faith formation, and various spiritual and community activities. Catechism teachers serve as animators, providing guidance and encouragement while helping children grow in their relationship with God.

Through its activities, Savio Friends of Great Britain seeks to create a nurturing environment where children can deepen their love for Christ, develop Christian virtues, and become joyful and active members of their families, parish communities, and the wider Church.
